This website represents the experiences of two mid-40's males who wimped out and did the motel thing. Others, with more intestinal fortitude, camped. The state parks appeared to be very nice. I think our experiences were fairly representative of what most other people encountered on this tour, except we didn't have the joy of being rained on Wednesday evening.

Ok, so the hill at Starved Rock wasn't anything like L'Alpe d'Huez. Forgive me, as I have Tour de France on the brain. I'm overdosing on OLN TV.
No, Karl K didn't tell us to use a twenty dollar bill to fix Joe's blowout, he said we had to use a fifty!
The chat on the Hennepin canal wasn't really as big as grapefruit - it just felt like it after 80 miles.
The advertised mileage and our actual mileage was different on a few occasions because we got lost or because we rode back and forth to our motel.
Yes, there really were elephants. They weren't out when we visited.
Yes, one person did ride a tricycle.
